About Us
Hasselbacken, dating back to the 1700s, is a gem in Stockholm's restaurant and hospitality industry. Today, Hasselbacken is a symbol of Swedish tradition and hospitality, attracting visitors from near and far.
History
The name "Hasselbacken" was established in the 1760s, and became a concept in Stockholm's restaurant industry. Confectioner Jacob Wilhelm "The Hasselback King" Davidson opened "Restaurang Hasselbacken" in 1853, which immediately became known for its good food, punch and lively singing. Although the building burned down in 1923 (for the seventh time) and was rebuilt two years later, its charm and atmosphere have been preserved.
In 1992, Hasselbacken was transformed into a destination offering hotels, conferences and restaurants. In 2020, Hasselbacken underwent a renovation of the restaurant, lobby, reception and conference rooms - a step in restoring Hasselbacken to its former glory.
A world-famous potato
Over the years, Hasselbacken has also had other purposes, such as a culinary school between 1947 and 1969, where the famous "Hasselbackspotatis" was created in 1953 by chef student Leif Elisson. The Hasselback potato is loved by many, and with us you can always order Hasselback potatoes!
